A Reputation For Readiness

Philip W. Gaines

Philip Gaines has been practicing law in Mississippi since 1986, having joined Currie Johnson’s predecessor immediately out of law school.  Mr. Gaines’ early career involved numerous trials in the automobile liability field, after which his practice developed an emphasis on the defense of bad faith and extra-contractual liability claims against insurers. Over the past few years, Mr. Gaines has also developed a reputation as a successful, even-handed mediator, acceptable to both plaintiffs’ attorneys and defense attorneys.  He has also been active in the various bar associations, including holding leadership positions in the Hinds County Bar Association, the Jackson Young Lawyers Association, and the Mississippi Law Institute.

Philip and his wife, Shari, have two teenage daughters, both of whom attend St. Andrews Episcopal School.  The Gaines are also communicants at Chapel of the Cross in Madison, Mississippi.
